Pink Floyd - Zabriskie Point

To finish the year, nothing better than a smooth Pink Floyd album, a masterpiece written by these pure four guys to become part of a original movie soundtrack (note: dont mistake this album with the soundtrack of "More", originaly, also by Pink Floyd). In my opinion that's a great album, but this one, follows behind with some travellin' smooth blues in "Love Version 6" and an incredible moment of a piano solo by Mr. Richard Wright (may this great genius rest in peace), going to some nice country/folk kind of tones.. so a true album for every Pink Floyd fan.

Monotonix - Body Language/Cowboy

A special band, a different one at least. One of the best things you wanna see live, is besides good music, a good show.. and now we're talkin' about Monotonix, considered by regardless magazines, as "the Live Band of the Past 20 Years".
Picture the drum kit on fire, a fuckin insane vocalist who jumps, climbs, crawls, and some blast riffs, and the house is burning and rockin!
And to hear it at home, is pretty cool too, these fellas com from Israel but they have a certain Californian feel.. chilly riffs, with blast noizes, so you can really go with the flow. Recommended.

Dead Meadow - Got Live If You Want It

Recorded live at Maxwell's Hoboken, New Jersey, Feb. 17th, 2002. Washington D.C. power trio Dead Meadow formed in the fall of 1998. From its inception, guitar-vocalist Jason Simon, bassist Steve Kille, and drummer Mark Laughlin set out to fuse their love of 70's hard rock ala Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Hawkwind and Black Sabbath with their own fantasy visions of strange lands as well as a good dose of punk energy and more recent influences such as Spiritualized and Bardo Pond. What they actually created is something even more esoteric than mere comparisons can conjure. Thus far, Dead Meadow has released two widely-respected albums on Tolotta Records. They've toured with Guided By Voices & done a Peel Session for the BBC.

The story goes that after the live album 'Got Live If You Want It' was released they recorded a Peel Session during early 2001 at the Fugazi practice space, which was the first time the BBC recorded a Peel Session outside of their own studios.

Dead Meadow - Old Growth

And in "Old Growth," they keep doing what they do best -- vintage hard rock, tinged with some bluesy psychedelica, metal and stoner riffs, with the occasional ballad, and striking lyrics with a sense of fantasy. The newly relocated band lays out a powerful, dark musical experience that sticks to their signature sound, but is able to twist in a few new sounds.

Dead Meadow - Feathers

Very few bands have what it takes to leaven their stoner rock with equal parts melody and exploratory noise. Their exhilarating fourth album, Feathers, is the DC-based group's best album by far, thanks in no small part to the addition of second guitarist Cory Shane. Half the album is so good--and so eclectic--it brings to mind the bass-heavy assault of classic Blue Cheer and Sabbath, the sweet confectioner's space-pop of Jack Drag and Brian Jonestown Massacre, and the locked groove swagger of Comets on Fire and Black Mountain. Dead Meadow aren't afraid to melt genre conventions; "at Her Open Door," for instance, is very Zepp-y but trippy and sugar-y sweet—almost like Bumble Puppy, but way better. "Stacy's Song" is levitating and beautiful, a reverb-saturated tune that showcases singer-guitarist Jason Simon's distinctive vocals.

Dead Meadow - S/T

Dead Meadow are a retro stoner psych rock power trio playing fuzzed out space-jams in a heavy and rollicking yet still kinda mellow mode. For fans of Blue Cheer and their fellow Tolatta act Spirit Caravan. They're also reminiscent of a more jammed-out, psychedelic Sleep, but with some gentle touches -- there's even interludes of acoustic guitar indie-pop. This one grew on us! [See!] It's definitely more "out-of-time" than most other stoner rock efforts, harking back not to the arenas of the '70s but to the garages and hippie pads of the late '60s. As such it stands apart from the current legions of Kyuss / Fu Manchu clones. One of the best points, the slightly whiny vocals, hardly matter amid the instrumental majesty of the electric fuzz guitar and bass action that dominates this album!

Randall of Nazareth - S/T

Solo work, from the guitar player of Pearls and Brass, Randy Huth. Acoustic vibrations from the woods breath on each song from this amazing guitarrist, with pshychedlic sounds hitting right on the spot, he really diggs through his voice to match the imperfect (note: imperfect) melody to sound as beautiful as rainning passing through trees. Perfect to relax and fly, you should try it.

Core - The Hustle is On

Buy this record. Unless thick, heavy guitars turn you off (and judging by how many mediocre bands with heavy guitars have gone platinum in the past couple of years, they don't) this record will change the way you listen to music. Yes, the music literally makes you think. Think about what? you may ask. Well, think about music, mostly. This is truly a band's band, and it shows in the tempo changes, the off-kilter time signatures and the unusual jazzy compositions on the second half of the disc. Buyer beware! This is not Creed, or Days of The New, or even Stone Temple Pilots. This is music that took more than thirty seconds to write. This is music that has a life beyond verse-chorus-verse. This is music for evolution. Grow thumbs and pick up this record.

Radio Moscow - S/T

Radio Moscow is a psychedelic blues rock trio from Ames, Iowa. Led by guitarist/drummer/singer/songwriter Parker Griggs, and this, their self-titled debut album, is produced and engineered by Black Keys guitarist/singer Dan Auerbach. Dan was given a demo by Parker after a Black Keys gig in Colorado, and he liked it so much that he offered to produce their debut album in his own studio, The Pie Co, in Akron OH. Parker Griggs (21 years old) originally cut his teeth playing garage punk, but his sound, although heavily influenced by sixties garage music, is also channeled through the blues, with experimental breakdowns, unpredictable tempo changes, crazy rave-ups and fuzzed out psychedelic guitar work; the result is an exciting and truly distinctive sound. Parker plays all the instruments on the album except for bass, played by Luke Duff (also 21 yeas old), and slide guitar on "Deep Blue Sea" which is played by Dan Auerbach. Radio Moscow's debut is a guitar album reminiscent of the pre-punk era, and it will certainly delight fans of the Black Keys and blues style, hard-rock alike. The trio, now with the addition of the new drummer Cory Berry, they'll be touring non-stop.

Pearls and Brass - the Indian Tower

These fellas grind into your brain like a heavy, dark sludge. a power trio, yes, but pure and syrupy power is what they deliver. sluggish, punchy, and like a sleazy drug you weren't sure you wanted to do but did anyway, all at once. phenomenal in their own simple way, and you won't stop headbanging, if only slightly, to this intense cornicopia of sound.

The follow-up to "Blue Cathedral" is an earthy, more accessible, and downright beautiful album. "Avatar" veers from swinging, bluesy explorations to piano-laced, progressive power balladry to pure tribalism, evoking everyone from the Allmans to Quicksilver to Procol Harem to some insane Fela/Sun Ra/Crazy Horse hybrid, yet remains wholly Comets On Fire. Though they play cleaner and clearer, their firepower is evident and abundant.

Earthless - Live at Roadburn ('08)

The heavy psychedelic trio Earthless was featured at the annual Roadburn Festival in Holland - a celebration of tube-driven distortion, crackling electric guitars, and the many fans who come to celebrate the mighty riff. Earthless embodies the event's essence, and this year, they wound up on the main stage in front of 2,000 fans, filling the time slot of the headlining band with a 90 minute visual mind and audio massacre. Told of the recordings, the band decided it was the most honest document they could offer; caught in their natural environment: the live show. The result is a double LP and CD masterpiece.
