Titan - S/T

The more I listen to Titan, the deepest I go on space travelling, these fellas are no joke my friends, they know how to make you travell, and not only through Kraut jams, but with slow and intense notes that cut right into your brain.
This is their first record, and how awesome could it be.. just as it is.

Sleep - Live at North California '94

This is once again, Sleep. Just a year after the release of the masterpiece "Sleep's Houly Mountain", their live gigs was just nuts, with a lot of punk bleeding feeling that broke through with anger, with crushing riffs from mister rasta Matt Pike, and breaking base by Al and Chris.
This video should be at least, considered Gold.

Lullabye Arkestra - Ampgrave

Their first album for Constellation, is a knockout. Bursting with barely controlled chaos on some numbers, stripped back to sultry, art-damaged loversoul on others, Ampgrave is a damn good time, full of testifying and tenderness, see-sawing between massed instruments and the raw minimalism of the core rhythm section.

Russian Circles - Upper Ninety

A very nice 7" this, from those very lovely Russian Circles fellers, and coming hot on the heels of their debut album 'Enter' on the Flameshovel label. You'll know what to expect here if you have the album, these guys know how to make post rock sound loud, and if you're into early Mogwai or Pelican then you're bound to love a bit of Russian Circles. Slow building instrumental and brooding epics taking down countries in their wake - it's powerful stuff!

Howlin' Rain - S/T

Imagine for a moment that its 1973. Its summer, you've stolen a dimebag from your uncle's tacklebox and you've met your friends at the rock quarry on the edge of town. So you roll down the windows in your canary yellow Nova, push in your new 8-Track, and try to have your way with your poor-man's-Marcia-Brady of a girlfriend. That's Howlin Rain. Sounds like a collision between the Grateful Dead-Blue Cheer-Black Oak Arkansas and maybe a dash of Faces-era Rod Stewart.
What spirit motivated someone to make this record in 2006 is beyond me, but I'm glad that the planets aligned and Howlin Rain made ths incredible record. I'm a big fan of both Comets on Fire and especially Sunburned Hand of the Man, but this record eclipses any expectation I might've had about what Howlin Rain could do or be. This album is a time capsule for me, as it captures the sights and smells and sounds of a distinct period of my life.
