Sir Lord Baltimore - Kingdome Come/Sir Lord Baltimore

Everyone knows the three main Proto Metal bands; Sabbath, Purple, and Zeppelin. But how many have heard of Baltimore? When I first heard this album I was floored first of all by it's heaviness and it's raw fury, and second by the fact that it seemed to be more influential than I could have thought!I hear elements in SLB's music that had become familiar to me through bands like Iron Maiden, Dio, Judas Priest, Kiss, The Cult, early Metallica and even Deep Purple and early Van Halen. For instance; it's hard to believe that songs like Kingdom Come, Hellhound and Ceasar LXXI were recorded in 1970/71. They sound like they could have come straight out of the NWOBHM scene 10 years later. Tell me that Iron Maiden didn't rip Hellhound off in Murders In The Rue Morgue. Tell me Metallica didn't do the same with Woman Tamer in Metal Militia.

The Fuzz Tone on this album (these albums) screams and shreds. Very dirty and "60's-ish" on the first album, and cleaner, more controlled (though no less heavy) on the second. The drums pound and the vocals roar. This guy could sing! If they had become bigger and released more albums, he would definitely have been included in the Ultimate Metal Singer cannon.

So if you're a fan of true Heavy Metal, you won't be disappointed by this cd. It may even become one of your favorites.

Norrsken - Hokus Pokus

Hailing with more sound quality than the other recordings in tape, Norrsken makes you remember bands such as Pentagram with evil Jethro Tull clean guitar. You can hear nowadays these sound in both bands of the most carismatic band members: Joakim Nilsson (Graveyard) and Magnus Pelander (Witchcraft).
It contains four powerfull songs by these tipycal 'swedish-doom' band, very nice riffs, raw vocals, keep up drums, and drop dead bass! There you go.. Norrsken!

Norrsken - Armaggedon/Tribute Compilations

Norrsken, the swedish guys (kids), formed by Graveyard's Joakim Nilsson and Rikard Edlund, with Magnus Pelander's from Witchcraft and Kristoffer Sjödahl on the drums, who is now in Dead Man.
Norrsken is just that, those four guys, who you hear know in some heavy fuckin' cool bands, joined together, to make, if not the best, one of the best stoner swedish doom style of music, you know, you can not confuse it, when you hear those clean evil tones, by these guys, and the evil distortion coming, the raw vocals, etc.
I mean, I love Graveyard, but this recordings are just, unbelievably awesome.

Kylesa - Static Tensions

Static Tensions picks up where Time Will Fuse Its Worth left off - two drummers weaving beats around each other, spurring on pummeling riffs. While the dual drumming usually results in a monolith of primal sound, it’s used on songs like “Said and Done” to create a polyrhythmic cacophony. The guitars are tuned bowel-loosening low, but the vintage amplifiers lend them a warm, soothing tone. There are a few proggier numbers, like “Running Read” and “Only One,” vaguely reminiscent of the band’s fellow Savannah, Georgia dwellers Baroness, although a fair bit darker (incidentally, John Blaizely’s cover art is amazing). “Unknown Awareness” is a continuation of the band’s one psychedelic ballad an album approach (see “Between Silence and Sound” and “Welcome Mat to an Abandoned Life” for past examples). “To Walk Alone,” “Nature’s Predators,” and “Said and Done” mark the pinnacle of the Kylesa’s achievement: sludgy bottom end, psychedelic leads, heavy grooves, hardcore punk speed, and compelling vocals.

Best band I've heard in a quite few years.. :)

Duke Ellington Meets Coleman Hawkins

Collaborative albums such as this one always have been something of a stunt on the part of the record label, with the artists themselves usually stuck with too little time to work out something that would easily act as a functional compromise. Many of these albums, then, have faded away with time. Impulse!, however, had more than its share of solid collaborations, with some moments of glory thrown in for good measure. This one isn't really one of those moments of glory, but it is a lot of fun, whether it's the daffy cut-up of "Limbo Jazz" or the slow New Orleans smoke of "Wanderlust." All present turn in nice performances on this set of Ellington numbers, there are no blatant flubs (though the ensemble isn't as tight as it could have been.) The remastering is excellent, giving the disc a nice clear sound, and a bonus track, "Solitude," has been added.

Note: This is an exception I make. This two guys are so good, that fused together, it could only be made a master-piece. I wanna warn you, even for you guys who are not addicted or simply dont hear any jazz, try this one out, you'll be spechless.

Witch/Earthless - 7" Split

"Can't Help Doin' Wrong" comes from the same sessions that produced Witch's latest "Paralyze" and captures the same manic energy inside of a psych-sludge gem.
Earthless continues to do what they do best with "Jull", a six minute face melter with a drum solo. This side was recorded at Pro Boys Audio in Costa Mesa, CA by Nadav Eisenman and Brian McKinley.
