Grails - Burden Of Hope

Grails is a post-rock band out of Portland, Oregon. This album is just beautiful. What sets this album apart from most post-rock albums is the tight song structure, and complete lack of pomp, which is all too prevalent in this genre. You're not going to hear 30 minutes of feedback disguised as "art" here. No sir, these guys are very deliberate and substantial in song structure, one of the shortest post-rock albums I've ever heard, this one clocks in at a little over 38 minutes.

If youre into post-rock, or anything experimental and/or dark, check this out, its brilliant.

Baroness - Blue Record

Baroness have undoubtedly retained their tight and pounding style, but it has been shoehorned into a different context. Here the guitars lead the way, and while the aggression is still there, they are more willing to throw different tones and styles into the mix. Straight up metal riffage jostles for position with bluesy folk breakdowns, jangling garage rock style arpeggios and prog rock cascading rhythms. Even though the raw vocals at times sound slightly odd against the more delicate musical sections, it's still a breathlessly effective melting pot of sound, and the frenetic pace is sustained throughout.

1. Bullhead's Psalm

Sea of Tombs - S/T

If you're, indie, harcore, straight edge and way to cool for the room, it basically sounds like nothing you've ever heard, but in the best way possible. It will surely be influential in a minor way like Dichord's glory days(Hoover or Crown Hate Ruin). Take the rawness of hardcore and slow it down about 30rpms, without all the angst, take out the screaming and replace it with fuzzy catchy bass hooks. Not to mention Rubacabala's always inovative and disonant drumming. Its not stoner-rock, its more like glue-sniffer-rock for Harmony Korine's next movie.

Tracklist:
1. Firebirds
2. Glass Sun
3. Calico Wall
4. Crystal Rain (Rave Up)
5. Prunes And Custard
6. Sea Of Tombs

OM - God Is Good

This new album takes you to some mind consciousness, that takes a range on meditation (the same thing as the older ones, like Conference and so on). Emil Amos is doing a good job, bringing his own taste to OM, filling in on the meditation wave, but at the same time taking you, to the old Emil that you know. Al is the great cerebro behind OM, and may be because of the drugs he takes (or took), he's still working perfectly, and we are here to hear this one, and many more.

Tracklist:
1. Thebes
2. Meditation is the Practice of Death
3. Cremation Ghat I
4. Cremation Ghat II
